If you use a flat washable filter, it is very important that it be washed once every thirty days of operation.

If you use a pleated filter: Most are good for three months, which is a great improvement. However, it's even more important that these filters get changed after that amount of time.

If you have a Space-Gard, change it at least once per year, more often if you have pets or heavy smokers.

Filters are the most important thing you can do for your system, as dirt is the leading cause of equipment failure.

Home Test

98% of all dust particles in your house are less than 1 micron in size. A single grain of salt is 150-200 microns. Pour table salt over your standard filter and see how well it stops it.
